Horst Excavating Announces Appointment of New President
Horst Excavating has announced that Jason Hess has been appointed President, effective June 29, 2026. Jason succeeds Harry F. Scheid, II, who will transition to an advisory role as CEO for Horst Excavating after nearly 40 years of service.
Harry started his career at Horst in 1987, working his way through various roles within the organization before being named President of Horst Excavating in 2007. In the following eighteen years, Harry’s leadership and vision drove the success of Horst’s operations and solidified their presence in the commercial construction market throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Throughout his tenure, Harry led initiatives to expand the company’s footprint, defined key processes integral to the company’s success, and developed a culture built on trust and grit.
Jason is not new to Horst Excavating, serving as the Vice President of Operations since 2024. This familiarity and years of working alongside Harry brings a clarity and confidence to the transition. Jason has worked in the sitework industry in various capacities for over 25 years and brings this experience and expertise to his new role as President. Jason looks forward to building upon Horst’s strong foundation and leading the team into its next chapter.
