Plum & Walnut Intersection Reconstruction

Horst Excavating was selected as the contractor for a noteworthy project that reconstructed a dangerous and uninspiring intersection into a green infrastructure transformation. The project was an initiative by the City of Lancaster to minimize rainwater impact on the city through the use of native plants and creative environmental design.

Working with ecolandscapers and a corner restaurant, we created a successful set of rain garden systems at the busy intersection of Plum and Walnut Streets in the urban environment of Lancaster City. The new rain gardens and porous restaurant patio manages 1.7 million gallons of stormwater annually.
